Brought about by the use of a new, radiation emitting device intended to destroy insect's nervous systems, the dead are brought back to life due to the jump start the radiation provides to their nervous systems. After the murder of a woman's estranged husband, police suspect the woman, her sister and a relative stranger (who was only along because the sister had run into his motorcycle only hours prior) of involvement in the murder, and as the bodies begin to accumulate the police chief becomes more and more convinced of their involvement.

Movie Trivia:
- The English tagline, "To avoid fainting keep repeating, it's only a movie... only a movie... only a movie... only a movie..." was taken from the advertising campaign for Wes Craven's The Last House on the Left (1972).

The cemetery scenes in the film were shot at the historical English graveyard where Robin Hood's Little John is said to have been laid to rest. The production experienced trouble though when tourists arrived to see the crew (and their garbage) hanging around the cemetery. Complaints were made and the film crew was forced to wrap shots in the cemetery in 24 hours.

The film's strange music score is partially made of moaning and breathing noises. It was director Jorge Grau who made these eerie sounds, as well as those for the zombies.

Since Fernando Hilbeck's zombie was suppose to have died drowning in the river, director Jorge Grau kept Hilbeck soaked with water throughout the film. Grau said that this often annoyed Hilbeck.

According to director Jorge Grau the woman streaker seen in the street during the opening credits was originally hired as an extra on the film.
