Movie Quote(s):
- Avatar: Oh yeah... one more thing: I'm glad you changed your last name, you son of a bitch!
-
Max: Fritz! Fritz, get up for God's sake! Get up! They've killed Fritz! They've killed Fritz! Those lousy stinking yellow fairies! Those horrible atrocity-filled vermin! Those despicable animal warmongers! They've killed Fritz! Take that! Take this! Take that, you green slime! You black hearted, short, bow-legged... Fritz: Max! Max, I'm okay! I'm okay max. Just a scratch. Look I'm all right. Max: Oh. Oh, damn. There you go again, stepping on my lines, raining on my parade, costing me medals. Oh, damn. [Accidentally shoots Fritz] Max: Ohh. Oh, Fritz? Fritz, get up for God's sake! Get up! They've killed Fritz! They've killed Fritz! Those lousy stinking yellow fairies! Those horrible atrocity-filled vermin! Take that! Take that! They killed Fritz!
-
Avatar: I'm too old for this sort of thing. Just wake me up when the planet's destroyed.
-
General: [guffaws] If this is the great Avatar, then I am a warthog's uncle! Weehawk: Funny you should say that. [hurls his sword, skewering the general]
-
Blackwolf: Brother, there is no need for me to destroy you. Surrender! Surrender your world! Avatar: [clapping] You always did need an audience you sap.
Movie Trivia:
- Some of the shadow-warrior footage was taken from Zulu (1964), El Cid (1961), Patton (1970), Battle of the Bulge (1965), and especially Aleksandr Nevskiy (1938).
-
The original title, "War Wizards," was changed to avoid confusion with another 20th Century Fox release, Star Wars (1977).
-
44 minutes into the film, when Weehawk falls into a chasm but urges Avatar to go on, Avatar appears to mutter a spell: "Morrow crinkle frizetta." This is a reference to fantasy illustrators Gray Morrow, Frank Frazetta and Frank's best friend, Roy Krekel.
-
The line "They killed Fritz! They killed Fritz!" is a reference to Robert Crumb killing off Fritz the Cat in his underground comic book series. Ralph Bakshi directed the film adaptation of Fritz the Cat (1972). Bakshi is quoted as saying, "I named the character Fritz in "Wizards," just so I could scream 'They killed Fritz!' To kill such a cat would make Don Marcus commit suicide."
-
No pencil tests were done on the film because of its low budget. The drawings went straight to the final product.
