Movie Quote(s):
- Ben Jabituya: I am thinking she is a virgin. Or at least she used to be.
-
Ben Jabituya: With excitement like this, who is needing enemas?
-
Newton Crosby: Where are you from, anyway? Ben Jabituya: Bakersfield, originally. Newton Crosby: No, I mean your ancestors. Ben Jabituya: Oh, them. Pittsburgh.
-
Stephanie Speck: Life is NOT a malfunction.
-
Ben Jabituya: Newton, we are wasting valueless time here.
Movie Trivia:
- At the beginning of the movie, you see a close-up of flowers on a green field, and then the tanks roll over them. This resembles James Cameron's style (see also The Terminator (1984)).
-
The robots are designed very similar to the large fighting machines in the future battle scenes in The Terminator (1984).
-
Stephanie and Number 5 dance to a scene from Saturday Night Fever (1977) which was also directed by John Badham.
-
This film was originally conceived as a dark high-tech thriller. Number 5 was originally intended to be the villain of the picture: an out-of-control, heavily-armed military robot that had escaped from the lab that had developed him. After several script revisions, the darker elements were toned down and the film became a high-tech comedy.
-
Clips from several scenes not in the theatrical release can be seen during the closing credits, including an altercation between Number 5 and a toy robot and Number 5 in an auto scrap yard.
