Movie Quote(s):
- Scientist: We dreamed of creating the world's most powerful Pokemon... [Mewtwo prepares to fire] Scientist: ... and we succeeded.
-
Mewtwo: The human sacrificed himself, to save the Pokemon. I pitted them against each other, but not until they set aside their differences did I see the true power they all share deep inside. I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.
-
Mewtwo: Human and Pokemon can *NEVER* be friends.
-
James: Who's *that* Pokémon?
-
Mewtwo: Behold my powers! I am the most powerful Pokémon in the world!
Movie Trivia:
- The theme song is not the same tune as the TV show, but it contains all the same words.
-
As Meowth gets sucked into a tube, James says "Who's That Pokemon?", a reference to the commercial-break game of the same name on the TV show.
-
Briefly held the record for highest-grossing opening for an animated film. The record was shattered two weeks later by Toy Story 2 (1999).
-
The American version didn't include a section called "Origin of Mewtwo" for it's theatrical run due to its dark nature.
-
The American edit of the film contains CGI effects that weren't included in the Japanese cut. These include realistic-looking clouds.
