Movie Trivia:
- A remake of Invaders from Mars (1953). The alien from the first film appears as a prop in the school basement, and 'Hunt, Jimmy' reappears as a middle-aged cop, saying "I haven't been here since I was a kid".
-
When David turns on the TV in his house, he starts watching Lifeforce (1985), another movie directed by Tobe Hooper about alien invaders.
-
During the scene where U.S. Marines invade the school, the extras are actual Marines from 4th FAAD Battery, a Marine Reserve unit in Pasadena, California.
-
The school is named after William Cameron Menzies, the director of the 1953 version.
-
Wade Williams had acquired the rights to the original 1953 film. For the remake rights, they paid Williams over 50 times the amount he had paid to buy the original rights. Williams had already made a very handsome profit from the original film from television, cable and video releases.
