Fog Island (1945) Leo, a former convict, is living in seclusion on an island with his step-daughter, the daughter of his late wife. Leo was framed by a group of former business associates, and he also suspects that one of them killed his wife. He has invited the group to his island, tempting them by hinting about a hidden fortune, and he has installed a number of traps and secret passages in his home. He is aided in his efforts by a former cell-mate who holds a grudge against the same persons. When everyone arrives, the atmosphere of mutual suspicion and the thick fog that covers the island promise a tense and hazardous weekend for everyone.

Movie Quote(s):
  • John Kavanaugh: This is a curious place. Leo Grainger: Yes. Strangely enough, it was built by pirates. But YOU shouldn't have any trouble finding your way around.
  • Leo Grainger: Couldn't you sleep? Gail: No. My room is cold and damp. Only this hateful fog seems to be at home there.
  • Gail: Oh, but I'll have to find Leo and tell him I'm going. He isn't in his room. Jeff Kingsley: I found Leo. He has no objections to your going. Gail: Oh, but don't you think we ought to find out if any of the others want to come with us? Jeff Kingsley: I found that out, too. They won't be coming with us. Not this trip.
  • [first lines] Gail: Leo? Leo, are you out here?
