Movie Trivia
- At the end of the credits, the film carries the following dedication: In Memory Of Donald Pleasance.
- Charles S. Dutton originally had a small role in the film as a detective, however his part was removed as script rewrites came in.
- During the scene where Norma is leaving, she stands in front of a car like the one in Psycho (1960). The music playing in the background at this part is also from Psycho. Janet Leigh, who plays Norma, Played Marion in Psycho.
- On a television in the girls' room a clip from Scream 2 is showing, reciprocating the Halloween clip shown in Scream.
- When Molly, played by Michelle Williams, is in the classroom she spots Michael outside the school and gets interrupted by the teacher, and when she looks again he is gone, just like Jamie Lee Curtis did in Halloween (1978).
- Acording to this movie, all the Halloween movies after 2 never took place.
- When Jamie Lee Curtis' character says, "go down the street to the Beckers..." this was supposed to refer to the line from Halloween (1978), "go down the street to the McKenzie's house..." The name was changed to Becker, which was the last name of Drew Barrymore's character in Scream (1996).
- In certain scenes, Michael can be seen wearing two different masks. The director decided well into production, to go with a different mask, so certain scenes were re-shot. Some scenes with the original mask can still be seen, and in one shot it had to be altered with CGI to replace Michael's old mask with the new one.
- Moustapha Akkad (the executive producer) has said that the killer in H20 was not actually Michael Myers, but in fact a copycat killer...this will be explained in the forthcoming Halloween movie.
- Nora is played by Janet Leigh who is Jamie Lee Curtis's mother. The character of Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleance who was in all but this film) is taken from Psycho (1960) in which Janet Leight was in the memorable shower scene. The line "everyone is entitled to one good scare" is said by Nora to Laurie. Sheriff Brackett (Charles Cypers) originally said it in the first Halloween.
- In the original Halloween when Laurie is in class we hear the teacher talking about fate. In Halloween H20 when Laurie is teaching, Michelle Williams gives an answer about fate.
- The movie was made after a suggestion by Jamie Lee Curtis
- According to H6 writer Daniel Farrands, who wrote an early draft of the film, said there was originally a scene scripted and supposedly filmed where a student in Laurie's class does a report on a book called "The Halloween Murders", in an effort to tie all the movies together. This was dropped however, when it was decided by the director and producers to ignore "H3-6" so as to concentrate more on the Laurie Strode aspect of the story.
- Marion was originally to survive in the pre-credits sequence, and Ronny to die. However, sensing audience appeal towards the latter character, the situation was switched and Marion was killed off. This was not recieved well by fans worldwide.
- The original soundtrack was written by John Ottman. It was cut from the film and replaced with music written by Marco Beltrami for the movies Scream (1996) and Mimic (1997).
Movie Mistakes
- Continuity: The newspaper clip shown during the opening credits, which states that Laurie Strode died in a car accident, says that she was a survivor of the "Halloween murders" of 1968. They took place in 1978.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: While the porch light of Nurse Marion's home is broken, the electricity is not off when Jimmy goes in; Michael cuts the electricity after Jimmy leaves.
- Revealing mistakes: Strings are barely visible holding Adam Arkin up as Michael is killing him.
- Continuity: When two of the characters are watching Scream 2 (1997) on TV, the movie skips about 5 to 10 minutes in 5 seconds.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Laurie drops a knife after stabbing Michael, but a moment later a knife is still in his chest. She had two knives.
- Continuity: Bottlecap on the bottle Keri hands Will.
- Continuity: Laurie removes the top from a vodka bottle, guzzles, hands the bottle to Adam who also takes the top off.
- Boom mike visible: When Laurie/Keri gets out of her car in town, the boom reflects in her van window.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: The police investigation at the start of the movie is never mentioned again, but it was in a different jurisdiction.
- Miscellaneous: In the opening montage, one of the newspaper clippings says 1968 instead of 1978.
- Continuity: The porch light at Jimmy's house switches from on to off numerous times.
- Factual Errors: An ice skate through the face would not be a clean stab, it would shatter the skull.
- Continuity: When Laurie/Keri is driving away in the coroner's van with Michael in the back the Coroner written on the side of the van disappears and reappears repeatedly.
- Continuity: When Sarah is climbing out of the dumbwaiter, Charlie's head changes directions several times.
- Continuity: The look of the mask changes back and forth for the scene where Charlie gets killed upstairs (the original mask was deemed unsatisfactory after principal photography was complete and some, but not all, scenes involving the mask were re-shot).
- Continuity: It is said that Michael's body was never found, but in Halloween II (1981), it was last seen burning in a hospital hallway.
- Continuity: A yearbook page with Laurie Strode's picture on it is shown toward the beginning of the film. Above her picture it says "Class of 1978." But if she were in school in October 1978, then she wouldn't normally have graduated until the following spring, in 1979. So therefore, she is Class of 1979.
- Continuity: In the classroom on the blackboard, the spelling of W.B. Yeats' name changes from the (wrong) spelling "Yates" to the correct "Yeats."
- Continuity: The level of wine in Laurie's glass changes inconsistently during lunch. The glass also jumps back and forth from her hand to the table between shots.
