Mystery Man: Of course. As a matter of fact, I'm there right now. Fred Madison: What do you mean? You're where right now? Mystery Man: At your house. Fred Madison: That's fucking crazy, man. Mystery Man: Call me. Dial your number. Go ahead.
-
[repeated line] Mystery Man: We've met before, haven't we?
-
Ed: You're a musician? Fred Madison: Yeah. Al: What's your axe? Fred Madison: Tenor. Tenor saxophone. Do you... Al: [shakes his head and point at his ear] Tone deaf.
-
Ed: Do you own a video camera? Renee Madison: No. Fred hates them. Fred Madison: I like to remember things my own way. Ed: What do you mean by that? Fred Madison: How I remembered them. Not necessarily the way they happened.
Movie Trivia:
- The interior shots were filmed at the Amargosa Hotel in Death Valley, which is said to be haunted.
-
The house that Fred Madison lives in, along with most of the furniture in it, belongs to, and was designed by David Lynch.
-
Fred's phone number ends in the digits 666. This is revealed when he dials it at the prompting of the mystery man.
-
Some scenes that were filmed but edited from the final version: - more conversation between Fred/Renee and the police officers - a scene where an M.E. brings two girls to the autopsy of Renee's corpse, and chats with them about the murder - more prison scenes - a scene in which Pete stands in front of his parents, but they are unable to see him - a scene in which Pete cannot be seen by Sheila, his girlfriend.
-
After Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert gave the film a negative review on their show, David Lynch issued a new poster calling the thumbs-down verdict "two more reasons to see Lost Highway." Asked for his opinion, Gene Siskel said, "I found it petty."
